The Heathen – 2.14.22

I want to share a smorgasbord of love with you as a reminder for all days, not just valentines day.

In 2018, my partner of 7 years left suddenly just a week before our wedding.

Before I knew it, I was deep within the jungles of Mexico meeting Mother Ayahuasca (an ancient plant medicine/spirit) for the first time.

Here are a few staples that she taught me about love:

Loving yourself is the source of all love

Love is generated within you, filling all your unique little wrinkles, curves, organs, senses, bones, wings, and private party parts with harmony, illumination, and zest.

Remember to love yourself like you loved that tiny little creature you rescued when you were seven years old. As you honor and love yourself, you radiate infinite love to all others. Love attracts love.

By loving yourself with compassion, you teach others how to love you the same.

Try on love of all shapes, sizes, and colors

Love is the infinite web that weaves all light, life, and purpose together. It is the glue that makes us passionate and bonkers at the same time.

Choosing love does not stop suffering, but it helps you rise above it. Live for love. Create for love. Share ice cream for love. Die for love.

Love is everything— every glance, conversation, meal, story, and experience.

Just like ice cream, try on love of all shapes, sizes, colors, and flavors. You may be surprised what exotic and kinky new loves you will find.

You are vibrant and sexy AF

You are so fucking perfect and gorgeous just the way you are, otherwise you wouldn’t be you. Your unique shapes, flavors, aromas, vibrations, and colors are pure gifts to this planet.

As flowers open up to bloom in celebration of the Sun, so too will you open your rainbow wings and shine your sexy on everyone (including yourself.)

Is it time to masturbate in the mirror? OMG. Right. It’s getting hawt in here.

Creative maniac quote & idea for you

“You are not naked when you take off your clothes. You still wear your religious assumptions, your prejudices, your fears, your illusions, your delusions. When you shed the cultural operating system, then essentially you stand naked before the inspection of your own psyche.” – Terence McKenna

Self-love is learning how to remove the layers that others have placed on you. Today, I invite you to take off your clothes and wash your body in self-love. Here is a practice that was shared with me by a Mayan Elder to guide you:

Self-love bath ritual

Walk outside repeating the mantra “I love you. I love me. You love me. Thank you.” as you gaze at all of the wonderful natural creations of the world. Collect some flowers, herbs, and oils (whether from your walk, home, or market) and start a bath. Roses, rosemary, lavender, and sage are great to use. Put the flowers, herbs, and oils into the bath. Cut a lemon into 4 pieces in honor of the 4 elements and directions. Put the lemons into the bath. Soak yourself next to candlelight if possible, repeating your self-love mantra.

If you do not have access to a tub, you can boil all of these offerings together, let the water cool, and then wash your body and spirit with the sacred water.  May peace be with you.

Thanks for reading “The Heathen.”

PS: Here are a few more quotes about self-love that may be moving:

“And I said to my body. softly. ‘I want to be your friend.’ it took a long breath. and replied, ‘I have been waiting my whole life for this.” -Nayyirah Waheed

“Your problem is you’re too busy holding onto your unworthiness” Ram Dass

“Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” C G Jung

Also, watch this while rubbing and loving your body.
